Nostalgia

Icy wind of night be gone this is not your domain
In the sky a bird was heard to cry.
Misty morning whisperings and gentle stirring sounds
Belied the deathly silence that lay all around.
Hear the lark and hearken to the barking of the dog fox Gone to ground.
See the splashing of the kingfisher flashing to the water.
And a river of green is sliding unseen beneath the trees
Laughing as it passes through the endless summer
Making for the sea.
In the lazy water meadow I lay me down.
All around me golden sun flakes settle on the ground.
Basking in the sunshine of a bygone afternoon
Bringing sounds of yesterday into this city room.
Hear the lark hearken to the barking of the dark fox
Gone to ground.
See the splashing of the kingfisher flashing to the water.

And a river of green is sliding unseen beneath the trees.

In the lazy water meadow I lay me down.
All around me golden sun flakes covering the ground.
Basking in the sunshine of a bygone afternoon
Bringing sounds of yesterday into this city room.
Hear the lark hearken to the barking of the dark fox Gone to ground.
See the splashing of the kingfisher flashing to the water.
And a river of green is sliding unseen beneath the trees,
Laughing as it passes through the endless summer making for the sea.

I floated away in the river of green and the summer sea :)
its beautiful. I love the landscape...goin from dark terrain onto a spring summer sky. I love the way you have used repeatition and it sounds redolent....of what, I can only feel...cannot define.

I am leavin a poem for you. I wrote this about 10 days back.

I might walk down tree lined avenues
Besides sunny beaches and a clear windy sky,
But I wouldnt want you trailing behind me.
I am just an ocean squid.
I wish to be left alone.

When you are not watching,
I will go back to my watery womb
And you wont find me ever again.

I wont come to hold your hands anymore.
The cancer is way too deep;
I ask you, Please let me die.

And you will go and mourn on the banks of the Tulian
An aquamarine blue that will erase muddy green seas.

And you will find happiness.
The trucks will roll, the cheetahs breed;
And the world will move on.

What is the significance of ';Gone to ground"?
